Deontay Wilder Trademarks

Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Deontay Wilder is a professional boxer and Olympian, former US champion, and WBC heavyweight champion. Beginning in Northport, Alabama, at Skyy Boxing Gym at just twenty years old, he went on to win the US championship and National Golden Gloves in 2007. His amateur record was 30 wins and five losses. Participating in the 2008 Olympics and advancing to the semi-final spawned “The Bronze Bomber” nickname.

Deontay fought professionally in Nashville, Tennessee, for the first time in 2008, winning a TKO against Ethan Cox. He won his first title in 2012, defeating Kelvin Price in LA, winning the WBC continental Americas Heavyweight title in the process. Wilder won the WBC heavyweight after a 12-round bout with Bermane Stiverne in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January of 2015. When he won the title, he became the first American-born champion to hold the title since 2007. He would achieve ten successful defenses of the title.

The fight was a box-office success garnering more than 30 million in sales. Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury was one of the highest-grossing fights in boxing history.

He won a few more minor bouts, but his next big fight was in February of 2020 in a rematch billed as “Unfinished Business” He fought against Tyson Fury again.
